Ben's Travel Journal
Many kids ask me where I came from and how I got to their school. Well, here's my answer to that one!
Beginning January 2003 I will keep a regular and complete travel journal! If you want to find out what it's like to walk a mile in Ben Franklin's shoes, read my journal.
I will provide readers with occasional reading and learning tips . . . in addition to a continual geography and history lesson! Hopefully, we will also have a little fun along the way.
I will be traveling about in my home state of South Carolina this week. Places I'm scheduled to visit include: Townville, Campobello, Boiling Springs, Greenville, Gaffney and Lancaster. If you look on your map you'll see that all these places are in what is called Upstate South Carolina. You can see mountains from Greenville and some of these other towns. I was at Walhalla Elementary School in the Upstate county of Oconee on September 11, 2001. Somehow I imagine the children at Walhalla Elementary remember the day Ben Franklin was there. I know I will never forget that day.
Do you recognize another person (besides Ben Franklin) in the picture to the left? I will send a Ben Franklin bookmark to the first 10 people who answer correctly. You can find my address at the bottom of my home page: The Magic of Reading.
